So, Jesus Comes Back. . .a guest post by Roberta Schiff

So, Jesus comes back. Why not? People are always talking about it.

Then he says, “You look like a really good and knowledgeable person. Would you take me around and show me some marvels off this modern age, things we could not have anticipated back in my day.”

Would you choose :

1. Chicken “ranch” where 200 thousand birds are confined in small cages in large “barns” that reek of ammonia and dead birds go unnoticed. why not – this helps millions of people get cheap meals, by the big bucketful.

2. Bariatric surgery ward – where people have had a section of their intestines cut out. Why not – these people can now lose weight.

3. Cows being artificially inseminated on the ” rape rack” as the industry calls it. They can continue to lactate without giving birth. why not? Isn’t milk nature’s perfect food?

4.  Children in developing countries dying every day of malnutrition (20,000) per day. This in a world where 70 per cent of grain is fed to animals. children all over the world who get enough calories, but mostly from empty calorie over processed junk food. Many already have clogged arteries and type 2 diabetes. why not? We have always had rich people and poor people. And children should be able to eat what they like.

5. Would you show him all the signs in front of churches proclaiming upcoming events – all named after animals to be eaten.  Chicken Fry. Roast Beef Dinner.Ham Supper or even better: Pig Roast. Why not? Isn’t the House of God the right place to support factory farming, heart disease,  obesity, cancer, global warming, world hunger, unsafe working conditions,

PS  I forgot to mention slaughterhouses. Oh well, he is probably not coming right away.
